Computer Facility
Computer Room

Each laboratory at ACBR has one or more computers. t here are two computer rooms for M.Sc. & Ph.D. students with ~20 computers. All the computers are linked with the University network.

Students have access to the latest software for net surfing and research purpose. We have discovery series (Quantity 1) for gel documentation, Cn3D, Rasmol for Molecular modeling. The centre has Omega (GCG for sequence analysis of DNA & Proteins) and Molecular Modeling Software from Acclerys, Japan. We have number of workstations with LINUX for study of Protein-protein Interaction, Ligand-protein and Ligand-DNA Interaction studies. This program can also be used to design primers from a given sequence & various sites for restriction enzymes can also be mapped on a given sequence. Various instruments based softwares are available with Infrared Spectrometer UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, Fluorescence Spectrophotometer, Gas Chromatography and high performance HPLC, which make research work easy.

The UGC has sanctioned a five-year project for the development of computer-based course for the M.Sc.-Ph.D. combined Degree Program and providing assistance to support the facility. CBR has different search engines and databases that enable them to search for data and literature through Medline and other bookmarks. Though the university internet service, excess to more than 10,000 Journals online. Presently, a DBT sponsored Bioinformatics project is in operation at the Center.

W.U.S. Health Centre

The W.U.S. Health Centre provides medical facilities to the students and to members of the staff and their families on contributory basis. It has fulltime Medical Officers, Lady Medical Officers and a number of paramedical and other supporting staff. The medical facilities available include diagnosis, treatment and medical advice or surgical intervention by qualified doctors, provisions of medicines prescribed by the doctors of the Health Centre or by specialists in approved hospitals if the patient has been referred to them. Special services are provided by part-time specialists with latest diagnostic and treatment facilities. A cardiologist, an opthalmologist, a dental specialist/orthodontist and a gynecologist visit the Health Centre for limited hours on specified days every week.

General Amenities
Post Office, State Bank of India, DTC Bus Pass Center, Student's Welfare Office, Railway Reservation Counter, University Guest House are located in the near vicinity of ACBR.
Co-curricular Activities
Students are expected to take an active part in all Co-Curricular activities organized by the ACBR. These aim at securing an all round development of the physical and mental faculties and provide an opportunity for use and application of the many faceted talents of the students. The student's societies conduct the different co-curricular activities under the guidance of the member of staff. The students are responsible for all social, cultural and literary activities e.g. ACBR's functions, entertainment debates, essay competitions and exhibitions. Departmental societies organize lectures, paper reading seminars, etc.
Physical Education & Sports

Physical education and sports which play a vital role in achieving the aims and objectives of education, are regarded here as Co-Curricular activities. The students in the University are provided with enough scope for taking part in different sports. They are also given chances to organize athletic and other social and cultural activities so that the students may come out successful not only in their professional lives but also imbibe leadership qualities through these activities.

The University has arrangements for most of the major games for both boys and girls. In addition to the dayto-day practice in different games, Interclass, Inter-Departmental and yearly matches are also held. The University teams also participate in most of the Inter-University Tournaments of the University of Delhi. Blazers, special prizes and certificates of merit are awarded to outstanding sportsmen, sportswoman and organizers.

Distributed Bio-Information Sub-Centre
A distributed Bio-Information Sub-Centre has been established in the Department of Biochemistry by the department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. All the departments of the University have started the facility of off line database (Medicine) searches from 1983-96, which saves a lot of time of students and faculty members for library work. A membrane biology database is available at the centre having 600 records at present. Instantaneous on-line connection is possible with Centres like Department of Biotechnology, National Informatics Centre, Jawahar Lal Nehru University etc.
Delhi University Helpline Counseling Services
Delhi University has helpline telephonic counseling services on HIV, AIDS, STD, Drug-Abuse, Adolescent issues available on 7667280, 7667725/303. The service has been available from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday. Personal counseling, referral services and postal counseling are also available for students. City and the Weather

The capital experiences severe winter during January. Its mean temperature during the day is about 15ºC and the mercury dips even below 4ºC in the night. The relative humidity is 50%. The northwestern India is often the site of low pressure region in January when strong chilly winds cause Delhities to shiver. Hence heavy woollens are recommended. During summer, the weather is quite hot (touching even 42 0 C) during midday. Summer spans from April-August.
