The Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Center for Biomedical Research is one of the important institutions of the University; it is responsible for providing high quality education in the challenging and rapidly developing area of biomedical sciences. The faculty and students of the ACBR have striven hard for more than ten years to establish the Center as a leading institution with a strong focus on interdisciplinary approaches.
Modern developments in the area of genomics, molecular biology, medical sciences, material sciences and nano-technology are likely to revolutionize our understanding of disease processes, and also the methods of diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases. As a country, we need innovations in all aspects of health management. Universities such as ours owe it to the country to lead innovation and promote discovery oriented research.
It is gratifying to note that ACBR has promoted cooperation with sister institutions in Delhi such as the Institute of Genomics and integrative Biology (formerly CBT), Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS) and Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DRDO), All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), National Agriculture Research Institute (IARI), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU). The faculty and students of the ACBR and the Scientists at these institutes have benefited mutually through this synergy.
Goal oriented inter-disciplinary research throws up its own share of challenges and paradigm shifts. The faculty and students of ACBR will undoubtedly keep pace with these challenges, convert these into opportunities and contribute their share towards the growth of the knowledge based economy of our country.
